Royals ace eyes New Year return

Reading winger Glen Little believes he is making good progress from his serious Achilles injury. Little has been on the sidelines since April with a troublesome Achilles problem and he underwent surgery on the injury in October. The former Burnley man is hoping to get the go-ahead to step up his recovery later this month before returning to training in January. "I'm happy with the way things are going," Little told the Reading Evening Post. "It's one of those injuries where for the first three months you can't really do much.

Ticking over

"I've been ticking over but you've just got to let it heal, and once I get to Christmas or new year then I'll get the all clear. "If they say it's looking good and everything's sewn up nicely then I'll be able to kick on and really start training properly. Meanwhile, John Oster has undergone surgery on his injured ankle. The former Everton man has been struggling with the problem since August and the club decided to send him under the knife to correct the injury. Royals boss hopes Oster will be available for selection again in a month. "It's all been remedied, and it's a case of how quickly he can recover," Coppell told the club's official website. "Hopefully it will be about a month."
