Former Reading front-man in discussions at Bramall Lane

Kevin Blackwell has confirmed he has begun talks with Leroy Lita as he looks to land the striker for Sheffield United. The Blades chief is on the lookout for fresh firepower and has earmarked Lita, who left Reading over the summer, as a player who would improve his options at Bramall Lane. While Blackwell is hopeful of concluding a deal for the 24-year-old hit-man, he is growing increasingly agitated by the roles of agents and advisors in modern football. "I've been in contact with his (Lita's) agent. It's a classic example of too many people talking for him," lamented Blackwell. "I'd like to think the kid could play his football and let the rest take care of itself, sadly it's never like that."

Little option

The Blades chief is also trying to land another former Reading player in Glenn Little, but again it is a similar tale of too many people becoming involved in the deal. Blackwell is confident he has offered the winger, available on a free transfer after leaving Portsmouth, an offer that is more than fair. "I've offered Glen a contract, but I think his mum and dad want to get involved and his daughter and sister, so we'll see," he added. "He's done well and we've put in an offer that we think is genuinely worth taking into consideration."
