Portsmouth manager Avram Grant has revealed that two of his players offered to take wage cuts in the midst of the club's financial meltdown.
Cash-strapped Pompey are set to make unwanted Premier League history by becoming the first top-flight club to enter administration, leaving them all but certainties for relegation to the Championship with a nine-point penalty set to follow.
Grant will meet with his squad on Friday morning to discuss the possibility of players talking a pay cut in order to save the jobs of some of the backroom staff.
And the Israeli tactician revealed certain Pompey players have already approached him to say they are willing to make the sacrifice.
"Two of my players came to me and suggested taking a reduction in wages to try and help some of the people, as we all feel great sadness at what is happening at this club," he said in

"I need to understand the situation clearly first, know exactly what's happening at the club now.
"But once I do we will have a meeting to discuss how we can help."
Going into administration will halt Monday's winding-up petition against Pompey, which is due to be held at the High Court.
Relegation appears to be the only step left to take for the Fratton Park outfit, and Grant is disappointed with how events have panned out.
"I feel very sad, very angry," he added. "We did a football job here.
"Every step we couldn't do our job. Now I'm very sad for me, of course, and for everybody."
