Nathan Oduwa is refusing to sign a new contract at Tottenham and is hoping to impress a new club at the Olympic Games with Nigeria this summer, Sky sources understand.

Spurs triggered the option to extend his current deal until 2017 earlier this year, after the youngster impressed on loan at Rangers, but he is stalling over new terms amid interest from clubs in Spain.

Oduwa has been urged by his agent to sign the new three-year contract, which was offered by Spurs last September, but the player wants first-team football and hopes a new club will attempt to sign him after the Games.

The 20-year-old winger, who has played for England at U17, U18 and U20 level, decided to play for his family's country of origin last year and is expected to be part of Nigeria's U23 squad at Rio 2016.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be an admirer of Oduwa's ability but recently vowed to improve the squad's mentality for next season and Oduwa is behind other youngsters such as Josh Onomah and Alex Pritchard for a first-team place at White Hart Lane.

It is understood the club are also looking into signing a new attacking-midfielder this summer to bolster the squad for next season's Champions League and another push for the Premier League title.
