Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino thinks his team will get a lift from playing their home Champions League matches at Wembley

Mauricio Pochettino says walking out in front of more than 80,000 Tottenham fans at Wembley will be an emotional experience.

Spurs, who are playing their home Champions League games at the national stadium this season while work continues on their new ground adjacent to White Hart Lane, will set the record for the best-attended Champions League game in Britain when they take on Monaco on Wednesday evening.

And Pochettino admits he and the players are very excited about the chance to play in front of such a large 'home' crowd.

Tottenham's last Champions League campaign saw them reach the quarter-finals before being knocked out by Real Madrid and was marked by some fine displays at White Hart Lane, but Pochettino has done all he can to prepare his side for the experience of playing at Wembley and insists playing in west London instead of north will not be used as an excuse.

"We need to go there and behave naturally," he added. "We will have the same routine as we do at White Hart Lane - arrive three-and-a-half hours before the game, have some meetings, prepare for the match in a normal way.
