Kyle Walker has described England's loss to Iceland at Euro 2016 as "the lowest moment of my career".

Roy Hodgson's side exited the European championships in France after surprisingly being beaten 2-1 by the minnows at the last-16 stage of the tournament.

"It was obviously a big disappointment, I thought we did very well in the first game, obviously getting the result against Wales, which was fantastic," Walker told Tubes in an interview on Soccer AM.

"The Iceland game, I think, just was not our night. We did not play to our full potential with the players we have.

"It was probably the lowest football moment of my career so far, it was not nice the feeling that you have not just let yourself down, but your team-mates and your country down."

However, the right back is still confident he and his England team-mates can turn things around if they qualify for the World Cup in Russia in 2018.

"We are a young group of lads that are going to have many tournaments together, so it was a good learning curve for us and the only way is up now and hopefully we can put it right in the next one," he added.

Meanwhile, Walker - who recently agreed a new five-year deal with Tottenham - has also spoken of his delight at the start the north London club have produced so far in the Premier League this season.

Spurs sit third in the table after making an unbeaten start to their league campaign.

"It is going well so far, obviously it is still early days, but we have set off to a good start and hopefully we can keep it going," he said.

"Who would have thought when I joined the club at 19 that I would still be here at 26? It is a great achievement and a big pat on the back to myself.

"It is great, the club have welcomed me with open arms and it means a lot to me Tottenham."
