Tottenham bid for Spanish keeper

Skysports.com understands Tottenham Hotspur have made a bid to sign veteran Spanish goalkeeper Cesar. Spurs coach Juande Ramos already his No.1 for the coming season after luring Heurelho Gomes from PSV Eindhoven - but the Spaniard wants a new back-up. Paul Robinson and Radek Cerny have both departed White Hart Lane and Ramos requires cover for Gomes. A bid for Derby's Stephen Bywater has fallen through and now Cesar could be in line for a move to England. Zaragoza coach Marcelino is happy to move on the 36-year-old, who is not in his plans following their relegation from La Liga. Cesar's representative Arturo Canales has confirmed the player is keen to make the move to England. "The subject is not easy but we are working on a positive solution for all parties," Canales told skysports.com. "The decision is Zaragoza's but the Premier League is very attractive to the player." Reports have claimed that Spurs' initial offer is to loan the player and pay 60 per cent of his salary, although it appears Zaragoza would prefer to sell him.
