Tottenham boss backs Swansea manager to go far in the game

Harry Redknapp admits he is amazed by Brendan Rodgers' achievements with Swansea in the Premier League. The Swans go to Tottenham on Sunday sitting comfortably in mid-table with just eight games remaining. Many expected the Premier League newcomers to finish at the bottom of the table after they gained promotion through the Championship play-offs last season. But they have surpassed expectations and have won plaudits for their style of football this season while also gaining victories over top-three sides Manchester City and Arsenal. Indeed, Tottenham are one of a number of teams to have struggled against the Welsh side this season, as they could only draw 1-1 at the Liberty Stadium on New Year's Eve. Rodgers has been linked with a number of top managerial posts and has been rumoured to be on the wish-list of Tottenham if Redknapp leaves in the summer. The Northern Irishman worked under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea and Redknapp believes Rodgers will go far in the game.

Fantastic future

He said: "He's someone who has a fantastic future. "I don't know what his long-term plans are but certainly the job he has done at Swansea has just been amazing. "I remember speaking to Frank Lampard a few years ago when he was at Chelsea and he was telling me how good he was then. "I just think it has been fantastic that a team can come up and play the way they have played, pass the ball as they do. "It's so difficult to play them. They are fearless. "They have caused everyone problems this year, from Manchester United, to Manchester City, ourselves, Arsenal, Chelsea. "They don't care who they play against, they have given them big, big problems."
