Former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has emerged as the frontrunner to take over at Tottenham following Harry Redknapp's sacking.
The Portuguese coach, currently without a club, is odds-on favourite with
SkyBet after significant backing on Thursday evening, with White Hart Lane chiefs believed to have made initial contact.
The club are on the hunt for Redknapp's successor following his sacking on Wednesday night after almost four years at the North London club.
Villas-Boas was shown the door by Chelsea in March but is understood to be keen on a return to London.
Long-term
It has been suggested that the 34-year-old, who led Porto to a League, Cup and UEFA Europa League treble in 2010-11 before his disappointing spell in charge at Stamford Bridge, would provide the club with a long-term strategy, something which chairman Daniel Levy appears keen upon.
Everton manager David Moyes and Wigan's Roberto Martinez are also thought to be in the frame for the job but would both bring compensation fees.
Latics chairman David Whelan has already said he will allow Martinez to talk to Spurs if approached.
Former Tottenham player Jurgen Klinsmann is another potential candidate to have been linked with the role.
