Hugo Lloris could miss the start of Tottenham's season after fracturing his wrist.
The France goalkeeper faces a race against time to be ready for Spurs' Premier League opener against Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 8.
Lloris, who has been linked with a move to United in newspaper reports over the summer, looks set to miss the pre-season games against the MLS All-Stars and the Audi Cup in Germany, where Spurs face Real Madrid and either AC Milan or Bayern Munich..
The 28-year-old returned to pre-season training on Monday, having suffered the injury over the summer and after tests the extent of the injury has been confirmed.
A statement on Tottenham's website read: "The club can confirm that Hugo Lloris has sustained a fractured wrist during the close season period.
"The France goalkeeper will continue to work alongside the first-team squad to build up his fitness in a bid to be ready for the start of the season.
"Our medical team will continue to monitor his rehabilitation and progress during pre-season."
Lloris' injury, coupled with the retirement of Brad Friedel, means Michel Vorm is the only senior goalkeeper at the club and youngster Luke McGee is likely to be given his chance in pre-season to stake his claim for a regular place in the first team squad.
