Defender available on a free transfer after leaving Fulham
Blackburn Rovers have confirmed Philippe Christanval is on trial at Ewood Park.
The French defender is available on a free transfer after being released by Fulham over the summer.
Christanval is among a clutch of players to have been given a chance to earn a contract with Rovers by manager Paul Ince.
The 30-year-old is expected to spend a few days with Rovers and chairman John Williams says it is down to Christanval to impress.
Nothing concrete
"Philippe has been offered a trial," said Williams in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"He should be taking that up as we speak and it will be probably be for around three days.
"Like I have said before there is nothing concrete, but being free agents if they do impress then we can sign them outside the transfer window."
Former Barcelona centre-half Christanval was restricted to just 36 Premier League appearances during three years at Fulham due to a series of injury problems.
