Gabriel Agbonlahor only had nine touches of the ball for Aston Villa at Tottenham

Gabriel Agbonlahor's first half for Aston Villa at Tottenham yielded just nine touches, the lowest for any Premier League player in the first half this season.

The striker was substituted at half-time for Rudy Gestede with Villa 2-0 down at White Hart Lane, and despite a late push the Midlands side went down 3-1 for their seventh straight league defeat.

According to Opta, his nine touches just pip team-mate Scott Sinclair, who managed 10 in the opening 45 minutes of the 1-0 defeat by West Brom.

Lowest number of first-half touches this season

Gabriel Agbonlahor Spurs v Villa (2/11) 9 touches
Scott Sinclair Villa v West Brom (19/9) 10 touches
Kevin Nolan West Ham v B'mouth (22/8) 10 touches
Matt Jarvis Man City v Norwich (31/10) 10 touches
Glenn Murray Soton v B'mouth (1/11) 10 touches
Bafetimbi Gomis Soton v Swansea (26/9) 12 touches

Gary Neville, speaking on Monday Night Football at half-time, joked how two of Agbonlahor's touches were from Aston Villa's kick-offs in the first half.

Neville said: "He's not got a touch anywhere near the penalty area. You have absolutely no chance if you don't get the centre forward involved."
