Aston Villa chairman Dr Tony Xia appeared to confirm on Twitter that the club have already signed Australian midfielder Mile Jedinak from Crystal Palace.

Manager Roberto Di Matteo revealed at a press conference last week that Jedinak was a target for the club.

Xia, who is particularly vocal on social media, suggested on Sunday that the deal was already done when asked by a supporter if the 32-year-old was heading to Villa Park.

The fan asked: "Is Miles Jedinak happening Tony? Don't let Newcastle steal him"

In a cryptic tweet, Xia replied: "Nobody can steal if he's delighted to be with us; also you can't keep him if his heart was not with us! #UTV"

Jedinak himself dismissed speculation he was leaving Selhurst Park after Palace's 1-0 defeat to West Brom on Saturday.
