Aston Villa chairman Dr Tony Xia appeared to confirm on Twitter that the club have already signed Australian midfielder Mile Jedinak from Crystal Palace.
Xia, who is particularly vocal on social media, suggested on Sunday that the deal was already done when asked by a supporter if the 32-year-old was heading to Villa Park.
The fan asked: "Is Miles Jedinak happening Tony? Don't let Newcastle steal him"
In a cryptic tweet, Xia replied: "Nobody can steal if he's delighted to be with us; also you can't keep him if his heart was not with us! #UTV"
Jedinak himself dismissed speculation he was leaving Selhurst Park after Palace's 1-0 defeat to West Brom on Saturday.
When asked by reporters whether he would be delighted to stay at Palace, he responded: "Yeah I've mentioned that many a time."
"It was nice to get out today and play in front of such vocal fans."
Jedinak has been with the Eagles since 2011 and has scored 10 goals in 178 appearances for the club, including 35 last season.
