Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Lyden has pledged his future to the club by signing a two-year contract extension.
The 20-year-old Australian had entered the final 12 months of his previous contract at Villa Park and would have been able to leave on a free transfer next summer.
But Lyden, who made six appearances for Villa last season, has put pen-to-paper on fresh terms at the Sky Bet Championship club and is now tied to them until June 2019.
"I'm really happy to have signed a contract extension," Lyden told the club's official website. "It's great that the manager has got faith in me and sees me as part of the future.
"I've loved my time here so far and I know that this is the best place for me to continue my development.
"It's an exciting time to be at the club too. There's a great groups of lads here and the coaching staff have been brilliant with me.
"There's a really positive atmosphere around the place. I want to help the club get back into the Premier League and play my part in any way I can."
