Aston Villa have agreed a deal with Middlesbrough for defender Luke Young.

Full-back set for talks

Aston Villa have agreed a deal with Middlesbrough for defender Luke Young. The England right-back only moved to the North East last summer when Boro paid Charlton £2.5million for his signature. Now Villa are believed to have offered around £5million for the 29-year-old and the Teesside club have accepted the deal. Young is now heading for Birmingham for talks and looks set to seal his move to the Midlands before the weekend. Villa are also believed to be leading Portsmouth and Sunderland in the race for Reading's Nicky Shorey and could very well bring in two full-backs in the next few days. Meanwhile, another player to leave Middlesbrough is young midfielder Herold Goulon. The 18-year-old Frenchman joined from Lyon last year but has now been released.
