Premier League: Alan Hutton delighted to be involved again at Aston Villa

Alan Hutton says he is delighted to be back in the first-team picture at Aston Villa after being brought back into the squad by Paul Lambert.

Hutton has never played a Premier League match for Villa since Lambert took charge in the summer of 2012, instead being farmed out on loan to Nottingham Forest, Real Mallorca and Bolton Wanderers.

Now suddenly the Scotland international right-back is in line to feature under Lambert this season, after playing most of pre-season.

“It's been a long time since I was involved, so to be given this opportunity again is great," said the 29-year-old.

"Who would have thought it could have happened? Certainly not me. With what has gone on in the last few seasons, I thought my future would lie elsewhere.

"But the boss has given me a chance to show what I can do, I think I've had a decent pre-season and he's stuck with me.

"I just have to work double hard now to show everybody I can play and I'm glad to be back in and involved and doing my bit for the team.

"It was just a case of knuckling down and working hard. The manager has brought me back in and I need to repay that by giving everything I have got and working hard.

"I want to prove to everybody I'm capable of doing it."
