Vincent Kompany will not be part of Manchester City's squad for their Champions League quarter-final second-leg clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
The City skipper trained on Monday in a bid to prove his fitness ahead of PSG's visit to the Etihad on Tuesday night.
But City boss Manuel Pellegrini says he can't risk Kompany, who has not featured for City since suffering a calf injury against Dynamo Kiev in the round of 16.
"He is not 100 per cent. It is not possible," Pellegrini told reporters ahead of Tuesday's game.
Samir Nasri is ineligible for the game and Raheem Sterling remains sidelined through injury but Pellegrini offered a more positive update on the fitness of Nicolas Otamendi.
The Argentine is in City's squad to face PSG and looks set to feature against Laurent Blanc's side despite twisting his ankle in the 2-1 win over West Brom at the weekend.
David Silva has also been named in City's provisional squad for the game after being rested at the weekend.
The attacking quartet of Silva, Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne could be a significant factor against PSG in a tie which Pellegrini insists is evenly poised.
"All four are dangerous in attack, but we must have good defending and good attacking," he said. "We must be a strong team because we play a good team
"The most important aspect of this team is to score. Do we think we need to draw 0-0? That's not the way we normally play.
"I don't think one of the team's is a favourite. We went there to try and win the game and tomorrow we'll do exactly the same."
Neither City nor PSG have ever reached the semi-finals of the Champions League but Pellegrini revealed he will not be content just to reach the last four of the competition.
"The important thing is to focus on getting to the semi-final. After that you look at your opponent.
"If we arrive at the semi it will be an important achievement but we won't be happy just with that, we must continue."
