Striker hoping to sign for Flamengo once he is fully fit

Ronaldo says he is ready to agree a contract with Flamengo after admitting he now wants to stay in Brazil. The striker has been sidelined since earlier this year through injury and has been recovering in his homeland after leaving AC Milan over the summer. He was previously considered as a possible signing by Manchester City and has also attracted interest from Paris St Germain. However, as he nears full fitness, Ronaldo admits boyhood heroes Flamengo are in pole position to sign him in time for the next Brazilian season.

Favourite team

"The doors are getting opened and I am sure that I will be working in 2009," Ronaldo, who has been training with Flamengo, told SporTV. "I want to do a pre-season work from the start. "Flamengo is my favourite team, they are in pole position, but I don't want to play there just because it's my dream. "I have to be totally fit to be able to play for Flamengo. "Despite that I had conversations with important teams like PSG and Manchester City, if I could stay in Brazil it would be great as I have been in Europe for 16 years."
