Roberto Mancini has reiterated his belief that Carlos Tevez has played his last game for Manchester City.
But he insists the dispute could have been resolved had his former skipper apologised after being found guilty of five breaches of contract.
City ruled the 27-year-old had refused to warm up in a UEFA Champions League match against Bayern Munich in September.
The forward was suspended for two weeks and had a four-week fine halved after the intervention of the PFA.
Tevez flew back to his native Argentina without permission and has refused to return for talks over his future.
Mistake
Mancini said: "I don't know when I expect to see Carlos again.
"I know he's in Argentina but I don't know other things.
"I don't think there is any way back for Carlos."
City are preparing for Saturday's Premier League table-topping clash against Newcastle and Mancini added: "We cannot continue to talk about Carlos. We have an important game."
However, the Italian boss has admitted Tevez could have saved his City career by apologising to the club for his actions.
"One must always act in a fair way, especially if you are the captain of Manchester City, a prestigious club," Mancini told Italian newspaper
Corriere dello Sport.
"Anyone can make a mistake and no error is irreparable.
"It would have been enough to apologise for dropping the case. So he's not wanted."
