Manuel Pellegrini believes Manchester City 'always dominate Chelsea' when the two sides clash under his management

Manuel Pellegrini believes Manchester City "always dominate Chelsea" when the two sides clash under his management.

The City boss was speaking after his side's 3-0 victory over the current Premier League champions on Sunday.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho felt the scoreline was a "freak" but Pellegrini - whose victory was only his third over the Portuguese in 14 attempts - felt the result should have been more convincing.

"We always dominate Chelsea," Pellegrini said.

"Not just today. Last season we drew and when we won the title we lost, but we always dominate Chelsea. We didn't give them any chances to counter attack. They are a very dangerous team. They defend near their box and have very fast attacking players. If you give them space, it's very difficult."

City have now won their opening two games of the season 3-0 and are already five points ahead of Chelsea.

However, despite Niall Quinn saying the club have a "little finger on the trophy", the City boss isn't getting ahead of himself.
