French midfielder signs four-year contract

Middlesbrough have sealed the signing of Didier Digard from Paris Saint Germain. Boro have been trying to clinch a deal for the France Under-21 international for much of the summer. The transfer hit a snag earlier this week when Digard hit out at the PSG board for holding up his move. PSG responded by saying the delay was Boro's fault, while they also suspended Digard over his criticism. However, the highly-rated midfielder has now completed his switch to Boro after passing a medical and putting pen-to-paper on a four-year contract. A deal of 5million euros (£4million) has been agreed and Digard becomes Boro's second signing of the day following Marvin Emnes' arrival from Sparta Rotterdam. "I'm very pleased that we've been able to bring Didier into the club," Southgate told Boro's official website. "As with Emnes, he is another exciting young talent who fits the profile of young, hungry and ambitious players that we want here. "Didier has played for France at every level up to under-1 and will really add to the competitive nature of our squad. "He is a holding midfielder, who is a good athlete and a strong tackler."
