Striker admits there is plenty of hard work in store

Scott McDonald admits Middlesbrough must improve their away form if they are to be serious contenders for promotion. Boro have had a mixed start to the new Championship season and have yet to score on their travels, with their sole point coming at Leicester City. However, Gordon Strachan's side have breathed life into their campaign after posting back-to-back home victories over Burnley and Reading. Trips to Watford and Derby County now await Boro and Australian striker McDonald is calling for an improvement in the team's away form. McDonald told the Evening Gazette: "It's great to get back-to-back wins against Burnley and Reading, but there is a lot of hard work to be done before the end of the season. "There's a long, long way to go, so this is only the beginning. We have got three tough games coming up in a week, and two of them are away from home. "We have to start winning away if we want to be serious contenders for promotion."
