Fulham are closing in on a loan deal for Porto left-back Rafa Soares, according to Sky Sources.

The 22-year-old is understood to be having a medical with the club after a season-long deal was agreed between the clubs.

Soares spent last year on loan at Rio Ave and has nine caps for Portugal U21s.

Fulham had been hoping to tie up a deal to sign Cardiff's Joe Bennett, but he tweeted on Friday morning stating that he was not leaving the club.

He said: "Just wanted to let the Cardiff fans know the rumours that I'm leaving are false. As are other rumours. I'm happy at the club.
