Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed the loan signing of Angelos Charisteas until the end of the season, ending Fulham's interest in the Nurnberg striker.
The Greece international had been a target of Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson, who had reportedly been to Germany on a scouting mission.
However, it is Leverkusen who have secured the services of Charisteas, who famously scored Greece's winner in the final of Euro 2004.
There is no option for Leverkusen - who loaned Theofanis Gekas to Portsmouth earlier on Monday - to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent basis and he will return to Nurnberg at the end of the season.
Leverkusen general manager Rudi Voller has also been linked with Rangers star Kris Boyd, but Charisteas' arrival would appear to cool that interest.
