Wigan have signed goalkeeper Christian Walton on loan from Brighton for a second spell.

Walton spent last season on loan with the Latics as they won the Sky Bet League One title under Paul Cook.

He also kept a clean sheet against Manchester City in Wigan's 1-0 FA Cup win over the Premier League champions.

The 22-year-old, who has also enjoyed loan spells at Bury, Plymouth, Luton and Southend, made 31 appearances for the Latics over the course of the 2017-18 campaign.

"This was a move we wanted to get done early and obviously prioritised in our recruitment," said Cook.

"Christian and Jamie Jones were excellent for us last season and to have those two competing for the number one spot against is perfect.

"The move makes great sense for Christian's development too as he can tackle the Championship in a club where he knows the environment already.

"We're all getting excited for the season to start now and this was the next piece of the jigsaw we wanted to complete."

Wigan have also secured the signing of Leonardo Da Silva Lopes on a four-year deal from Peterborough, while Kal Naismith has also arrived at the DW Stadium on a free transfer from Portsmouth.
