Midfielder admits defeat is not an option at Craven Cottage

Jason Koumas believes Wigan Athletic cannot afford to lose at fellow strugglers Fulham on Wednesday night. The Latics have lost three games in a row in the Premier League and are only outside of the relegation zone on goal difference. Following narrow defeats against Middlesbrough and Liverpool, Wigan were thumped 4-0 at home by Aston Villa at the weekend. Wales midfielder Koumas believes the team's performances have been good and stressed the importance of picking up a result at Craven Cottage.

Sticky patch

"It's a big game on Wednesday for us, a game we've definitely got to get something out of," Koumas told the club's official website. "We're playing well, but we're not winning. "Whereas last year we were hard to beat, at the moment we're leaking goals, and we need to put it right. "It was a bad result for us and we're going through a sticky patch at the minute. We definitely need something from somewhere. "The gaffer was right though, we need to get back to what we were doing last year."
