Steve Morison was delighted to open his Premier League goal account in Norwich's 2-1 victory over Sunderland.
The striker was snapped up by Paul Lambert from Millwall over the summer, handing him the opportunity to compete among England's elite.
The 28-year-old has come a long way in a short space of time, as he was turning out in the non-league as recently as 2009.
He is now a top flight performer and a senior international with Wales, with rapid progress made in the last two years.
Morison is enjoying every minute of his time at the top and admits a first goal in the Premier League is a huge weight off his shoulders.
Judged
He told
Sky Sports: "It's fantastic. I have managed to score now at a lot of different levels. I got an international goal a few weeks ago and have now got my first Premier League goal as well, so it's good times at the minute. Long may it continue.
"You are judged on your goals. People look at strikers and think you should be scoring every week, but stepping up to this level is tough because you don't get as many chances.
"I missed a couple but I managed to put one away tonight and it was all important because it pushed us over the line in the end."
Morison's header three minutes into the second half proved to be the winner for Norwich on Monday, but he was quick to hail the collective effort put in by the Canaries at the final whistle.
He said: "It was a great win and I think we deserved it. In the last 10 minutes we had our backs to the wall a little bit, especially going down to ten men (as James Vaughan limped off), but it's a great result and you have to win back-to-back games in this league and that's something we've managed to do."
Bonus
Norwich's opener at Carrow Road came from the unlikely source of Leon Barnett.
He said: "I am happy to get the goal, it's a bit of a bonus. Stevie has done well to get his goal, but the main thing is the three points."
Barnett is not a man renowned for his goal-scoring prowess, so he was happy to talk up his strike afterwards.
"I don't know if you saw the movement," he laughed.
"I just stayed in the box, it was from a corner, and I just stayed up and I was just fortunate to get the ball put in and then finished well."
