Midfielder signs 12-month contract at Britannia Stadium

Stoke City have wrapped up the signing of midfielder Amdy Faye from Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee. Faye has agreed a 12-month contract at the Britannia Stadium after spending the last week on trial with the Premier League new boys. He featured in the pre-season friendly against Osasuna a week ago and has done enough to secure a permanent move to the Potters. Tony Pulis is confident that his fourth summer recruit will prove to be a valuable addition to his squad for the coming season.

Important experience

"He's a very strong and athletic lad, and he has important experience at the top level we can call upon," the Stoke boss told the club's official website. "I've liked the look of him in training and also liked his attitude in the few days he's been with us. "I think he did well in the short time he was on the pitch in last week's friendly against Osasuna." Faye, who spent last season on loan at Rangers, had 12 months remaining on his deal with Charlton and the club were happy to allow the Senegalese to move on. Addicks chief executive Steve Waggott told the club's official website: "It's a good deal for both the club financially and for Amdy, who I'm sure will figure in the Stoke squad on a regular basis."
