Charlton Athletic midfielder Matthew Spring insists he is happy to be patient with his bid to earn a starting place in the side, but is hoping he will not have to wait too long.
The former Luton Town and Watford playmaker has only managed to make five league starts this season, but he understands that a winning side can not be changed too often.
However, with the Christmas period beginning to kick in with a flurry of fixtures, the 30-year-old told
skysports.com that he is hoping his wait will come to an end sooner rather than later.
"I'm tearing my hair out at the moment really, but there is nothing I can do about it at the minute because the boys that are in the team are playing well and keep winning games," said Spring.
Patient
"So, I've just got to be patient and wait for a chance to come for me to show what I can do.
"The manager has spoken to me and told me that I still have a part to play this season, so it is all about being patient and being ready to take the chance when it comes my way.
"Hopefully the amount of games we play during the festive period will allow me to get back into the side and show what I can do."
The Addicks continue to chase League One leaders Leeds after a comfortable victory at Brighton on Tuesday and Spring believes their shock FA Cup first-round exit to Northwich Victoria was the catalyst for their improved form.
He added: "Sometimes those kind of games can kick-start a season, so it could be a blessing in disguise going out of the cup because we can fully concentrate on getting our league campaign back to where it was at the start of the season."
