Sky sources report that Dean Austin will not renew his contract as Watford assistant coach following the departure of Quique Sanchez Flores.

Austin, 46, formerly a player with Southend, Tottenham and Crystal Palace, joined the Hornets as assistant to Slavisa Jokanovic in January 2015, helping the club to secure promotion to the Premier League that season.

He stayed on when Spaniard Sanchez Flores took charge and was a key member of the coaching structure as Watford enjoyed a successful season back in the top flight.

Having previously spent just two single seasons in the Premier League, Watford stayed up comfortably on this occasion, eventually finishing 13th, and also reached the FA Cup semi-finals.

However, it was announced towards the end of the campaign that Sanchez Flores would not be in charge for the 2016/17 season and Austin is to follow him out of Vicarage Road.
