Burnley have banned a fan for three months from Turf Moor in connection with a coin-throwing incident following last month’s defeat to Reading.
The Championship club issued the suspension after a visiting player was targeted by two bottles and other items thrown after the 2-1 defeat to the Royals on September 26.
Burnley also issued a statement warning supporters that throwing items onto the pitch is a criminal offence which will result in a suspension from the stadium.
"Regrettably, the Clarets recent home defeat to Reading was marred by incidents at the full-time whistle, when two bottles and other items were thrown in the direction of a visiting player from the lower tier of the James Hargreaves Stand," said the club on their website.
"As a result of this, fans have been warned that throwing items onto the Turf Moor pitch, or at other supporters, will result in a Turf Moor ban.
"The law currently states that is a criminal offence to throw anything onto a football pitch - and Burnley Football Club is currently studying detailed CCTV footage to identify the bottle-throwing culprit.
"Meanwhile, the supporter alleged to have thrown a coin has since been spoken to by the Police and has received a three-month stadium ban, issued by the club.
"And the club has reiterated its stance on all criminal activity within Turf Moor, that even if the Police decide not to pursue any convictions, the club will ban the individual(s) concerned for a period of time.
"Their conduct will be continuously monitored and, if they are involved in any further criminal incidents relating to football, inside or outside of Turf Moor, they will be dealt with by extended stadium bans."
