Michael Morrison has extended his current deal at Birmingham City to keep him at the club until 2019.

The Blues captain joined the club on an initial loan deal from Charlton Athletic in 2014, and subsequently established himself as Birmingham's preferred centre-back.

Manager Gary Rowett was suitably impressed with the defender to make Morrison his first permanent signing on a three-and-a-half-year deal at St Andrews in January 2015

Birmingham have now moved to tie down Morrison beyond his current contract, which was due to expire on 30 June 2018.

The 28-year-old has made 53 appearances for Birmingham and helped guide the club to a 10th-place finish in the Sky Bet Championship last season.
