Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale produced a spectacular double stop to deny Sheffield Wednesday's Fernando Forestieri

Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale pulled off a stunning and vital double stop to deny Sheffield Wednesday on the way to his side's 2-1 victory in the Sky Bet Championship on Friday night.

Stockdale was on hand to deny Fernando Forestieri from the penalty spot before reacting quickly to get back down and keep out the Owls striker's follow-up attempt.

The save came at a key moment in the game in the second half, with the scores level at 1-1 and Brighton striker Glenn Murray having just been sent off for conceding the penalty with a handball.

But Stockdale's heroics meant that Brighton could go on to win the game, while Wednesday eventually finished with nine men after Steven Fletcher and Sam Hutchinson were sent off.

Anthony Knockaert struck both goals for the Seagulls either side of Lewis Dunk's calamitous own goal.
