Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed the club have made an offer to former England skipper John Terry, who will be a free agent from July 1.
Having spent his whole career with Chelsea, the centre-back ended his 22-year stay at Stamford Bridge at the conclusion of last season.
Terry barely featured for Chelsea last season due to injuries and the form of other defenders in Antonio Conte's 3-4-3 system, as the Blues claimed the Premier League title.
"I'd love to have him at the football club," Redknapp told talkSPORT. "He's a fantastic captain and great leader.
"We've made him a good offer and we have done the best we can. It's up to John now, but we would love him at Birmingham.
"He played for me the other week in Michael Carrick's testimonial. I had John at the back with Jamie Carragher and I would have them two together all day long. They were fantastic.
"I had a chat with him and said to him come in - he's doing his coaching badges - have a year or two and who knows what he wants to do in the future?"
The 36-year-old defender has been linked with moves to a host of Premier League sides already this summer, with Bournemouth and West Brom among them, while there are also thought to be offers on the table from clubs in the United States and China.
Redknapp took over at St Andrew's in April 2017, guiding the club to Championship survival on the final day.
In May 2017, the experienced boss signed a one-year deal to continue as Birmingham manager for another season.
