Magilton decides against deal for French striker

Ipswich Town have opted against pursuing a deal for former Fulham striker Steve Marlet. The ex-France international has been training with Ipswich and originally linked up with the club early in October. He was given a run-out in the reserves on Monday and notched a goal in the 3-0 victory over Luton Town. But Town boss Jim Magilton has revealed that he will not be pressing ahead with any interest in the 33-year-old. "It was the reserves and he pretty much walked through it," Magilton told the East Anglian Daily Times. "It was good of him to play in this game, but he is not what we want at this moment in time and we won't be pursuing it." Marlet, who cost Fulham £11.5million from Lyon six years ago, is a free agent after leaving Lorient at the end of last season. Meanwhile, German goalkeeper Jonas Sela, who trained with Ipswich last week, is now on trial at Brighton & Hove Albion.
