Defender seals switch to Championship rivals

Stoke City have completed the capture of Crystal Palace defender Leon Cort on an initial two-month loan.

Eagles boss Neil Warnock allowed the 28-year-old to hold talks with The Potters, with whom he has now agreed terms.

Cort joins The Potters initially on loan, however, the deal is expected to become a permanent move in January as a fee has been agreed.

The stopper is in line to make his debut against Coventry on Saturday and manager Tony Pulis is happy to have him on board.

"Leon is a great signing for this football club, and he brings more quality to the squad," he told the club's official website.

"He will add depth to the team and I am absolutely delighted to have got him here."

No rush

Stoke defender Clint Hill is in no rush to finalise his future after seeing a move in the opposite direction to Selhurst Park collapse.

"The deal is off as far as I'm concerned. It has just broken down. I don't know why," he told The Sentinel.

"As far as I know I'm still a Stoke player. Nothing solid has been put on the table by Palace. Until I'm told otherwise, I have to perform my duties here."

Meanwhile, another Stoke defender, Andy Wilkinson, has revealed he is close to committing his future to the Britannia Stadium side.

"I've spoken to the club and I think we have come to an agreement to sign a new two-year extension," the 23-year-old stated.
