Preston North End right-back Billy Jones should be playing within a month after successful surgery.

Right-back set to return for North End within four weeks

Championship strugglers Preston North End have received positive news on injured right-back Billy Jones. The defender could be back in action within four weeks after successful surgery on his hernia. The 20-year-old - who opted for surgery after first battling the problem for a number of weeks - is now resting at home before beginning his rehab in earnest. Speaking about the situation, head of the medical department, Steve Kemp told the club's official website: "He went into surgery on Wednesday in Manchester with a highly renowned hernia specialist who repaired both bilateral hernias and bilateral tearing to his muscles right by his hernia.

Success

"Surgery was a complete success, the surgeon was very happy and Billy will now spend a few days at home before starting his rehab in earnest next Monday and it is hoped he will be back in full football in four weeks." Jones has made 14 Championship appearances for North End since his switch from Crewe last June. He will be a vital component as rock-bottom North End seek to avoid Championship relegation.
