Paterson - I'm committed

Martin Paterson insists he is 100 per cent committed to Scunthorpe United.

20-year-old not affected by transfer speculation

Martin Paterson insists he is 100 per cent committed to Scunthorpe United, despite the recent speculation surrounding his future. Paterson has been in impressive form this season, scoring 11 goals in 29 Championship appearances. His displays have caught the eye of Norwich City manager Glenn Roeder, with the club reportedly enquiring about the striker in the January transfer window. The enquiry was turned down by Iron chairman Steven Wharton, and Paterson is positive the speculation will have no adverse affects on him.

Not special

"I'm not special, I'm not an intellect, I just play football," he told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. "I put my boots on, run around and try and score goals. If people want to talk about me and say stuff, that's, up to them. "I can't go around saying this, that and the other about going here or there for money. "It doesn't affect my focus one bit. I just want to do my best for Scunthorpe United. That will never change. "I just want to play football, score goals and give 100 per cent."
