Wingers join MLS side on trial

Laurent Robert and Rohan Ricketts have linked up with Major League Soccer side Toronto FC on trial. Former Newcastle and Portsmouth winger Robert only joined Derby in January as one of seven new faces; as manager Paul Jewell made a last-ditch attempt to save the club from relegation. But the 32-year-old Frenchman has failed to make the expected impact, starting just three games for the Rams, with his last appearance two months ago. Jewell admitted last month that Robert was unlikely to win a long-term deal at Pride Park and Toronto have moved to offer him the chance to earn a move to MLS. Barnsley midfielder Ricketts could join Robert at Toronto after starting training with the club. The former Arsenal and Tottenham man has dropped down the pecking order at Oakwell and it appears they are willing to let Ricketts go. One player who will not be signing for Toronto is Kiki Musampa. The former Manchester City winger had been on trial but he has now accepted a move to Korean club FC Seoul.
