Ben Watson has taken another step towards the exit at Crystal Palace by rejecting their latest contract offer.
The Eagles were prepared to make the midfielder the highest paid player at the club, but appear to have failed in their attempts to keep the 22-year-old at Selhurst Park.
Queens Park Rangers, who are managed by former Palace chief Iain Dowie, are among the front-runners to snap up Watson, although they face stiff competition from elsewhere.
Rejected
Palace boss Neil Warnock admits that it looks unlikely that Watson will be among his plans next season, and confirmed that there are a number of interested parties chasing the former England U21 international.
"Ben has rejected our contract offer which would have made him the highest-paid player at the club and his agent is hinting to me that he might want to try something new," Warnock told the
Croydon Advertiser.
"QPR are leading the race, but two or three clubs have made firm enquiries about him."
