Barnsley defender Stephen Foster has agreed a contract extension which will keep him at Oakwell until 2010. The 28-year-old has impressed with the Championship outfit since moving from Burnley in 2007. And the Tykes were therefore keen to secure Foster's services for the next two seasons. Having signed the new deal, Foster has thanked manager Simon Davey for the impact he has had on his career.

Fresh air

"Working with Simon has been fantastic for me and I believe I am a much better player today than the one that left Burnley," Foster told Barnsley's official website. "The gaffer has been like a breath of fresh air for me. He has really given me the belief I needed to go out and play football." And Davey is pleased to have Foster secured as the Tykes look to move away from trouble at the bottom of the Championship. "I am absolutely delighted that Stephen has committed his future to the club," Davey added. "Stephen has probably been our most consistent performer over the last year and it fantastic for everybody connected with Barnsley that we will have him with us for even longer."
