Wolves fail in move for midfielder

Bristol City have rejected a bid from Championship rivals Wolves for star midfielder Marvin Elliott, skysports.com understands. Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has been trailing the all-action midfielder for the last few months and was hoping to lure him to Molineux. McCarthy is widely believed to be in the market for a midfielder as he looks to maintain his side's challenge for promotion to the Premier League and he is thought to have made Elliott his top target. Wolves are thought to have firmed up their interest with a bid in the region of £1.75million for the former Millwall man, but City have rejected the offer. City boss Gary Johnson is reluctant to lose Elliott as he regards the 24-year-old as an integral part of his plans at Ashton Gate.
