Skysports.com understands Cardiff are planning to offer Ross McCormack a new deal to keep him at Ninian Park.
The 22-year-old has proved to be a massive success at Cardiff since his arrival from Motherwell last summer.
The skilful attacker has scored 23 goals in all competitions and has been instrumental in Cardiff's bid for promotion to the Premier League.
The former Rangers youngster has also established himself as a regular in the Scotland squad and scored a crucial goal in the recent World Cup qualifying win over Iceland.
His form has seen a number of top clubs linked with his services and Cardiff are keen to tie him down to a new long-term contract to ward off potential suitors.
McCormack's agent Willie McKay has confirmed talks are planned with Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale over a new deal.
"I have a meeting planned with Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale next week and I believe they are ready to offer Ross a new deal," McKay told skysports.com.
"Ross has enjoyed a great season so far and he is hoping he can finish it off by firing Cardiff into the Premier League.
"Like any player Ross would love to have a crack at the Premier League and ideally that would be with Cardiff next season."
