Burnley defender reveals delight at reaching play-offs

Christian Kalvenes has admitted that reaching the play-offs with Burnley was more than he could have dreamed of. The Clarets secured their top-six place on Sunday when Owen Coyle's side hammered Bristol City 4-0 at Turf Moor. Burnley will now face Reading in a two-legged semi-final as they look to reach the top flight for the first time in 33 years. The defender has featured 21 times in the Championship this term and the 32-year-old insists the players will thrive off the intensity of the play-off clashes. "This has been fantastic and more than I could dream of," he told Bergens Tidende.

Unbelievably fun

"It is unbelievably fun to play games that really mean something and that is what I am being given here." Although the Norwegian acknowledges the threat that the Royals possess, he believes the team can use their experiences in knock-out competitions this season to help them progress through to the final at Wembley. "Reading have a really, really good team," he added. "It will be a close call, but we have beaten Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham and West Brom in the cup this season."
