Leading goalscorer to discuss terms

Cardiff have confirmed they are in talks with Ross McCormack over a new deal at Ninian Park. As revealed by skysports.com last month Cardiff are lining up a lucrative new contract for McCormack as reward for his progress this season. McCormack enjoyed a fantastic debut season with Cardiff as he scored 23 goals in all competitions following his arrival from Motherwell. A number of Premier League clubs are thought to be tracking McCormack and Cardiff are keen to tie him down to an extended deal to ward off suitors. Bluebirds chairman Peter Ridsdale is hopeful that the new contract will be finalised in the near future. "We are in talks with Ross about extending his deal," Ridsdale told the South Wales Echo. "And we expect to be able to announce news within the next few weeks. "When we signed Ross I agreed to review his contract if he had a good first season in the Championship. "Everybody, I'm sure, will accept Ross had a good season. "We are currently negotiating on level of pay and length of contract. Those talks, we hope, will be concluded over the next few weeks."
