Colchester United striker Kayode Odejayi has revealed he would have been happy to stay at Barnsley.

But striker feels he has benefited from move to Colchester

Colchester United striker Kayode Odejayi has revealed he did not want to leave Barnsley and would have been happy to fight for his place at Oakwell. Odejayi has just completed a permanent move to Colchester after scoring seven goals in 17 appearances during a loan spell at the League One club. He had mustered just five goals in 82 games during his time at Barnsley, but the 27-year-old says he would have been prepared to stay at the Championship side. "I didn't want to leave Barnsley," Odejayi told the Sheffield Star. "Ideally, I would have loved to have stayed at the club and fought for my place, but a new manager (Mark Robins) came in and I wasn't part of his plans. "Unfortunately I didn't score enough goals, but the move to Colchester has done me the world of good. "I couldn't really have asked for a better start. I've managed to score quite a few goals and the team is doing really well."
