Iron defender extends his current deal until 2012

Defender Andrew Wright has signed a new contract with Scunthorpe that will keep him at Glanford Park until the end of the 2011/12 season. The 25-year-old's current deal was set to expire in the summer, but the former Liverpool trainee has extended his stay with the Iron. Wright, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, has made 48 appearances for Nigel Adkins' men after joining the Championship club from West Virginia University following a successful trial period in 2008. Meanwhile, Scunthorpe have decided not to appeal against Marcus Williams' red card in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace. The full-back received a straight red for a challenge on Palace substitute Kieron Djilali, but despite labelling the dismissal as "harsh", Iron boss Adkins has revealed that the club will not contest the charge.
