Gary McSheffrey looks likely to miss Coventry City's remaining four games of the season due to a knee injury.
The striker, who has scored eight goals in 35 appearances since rejoining the Sky Blues last summer, picked up the knee problem earlier this month.
Scans have shown McSheffrey has not suffered ligament damage, but he is not expected to return to fitness before the end of the season.
"It could be a three-week job and if he doesn't play again this season it will be a blow for Gary and the team because he has been terrific and a big part of what we have achieved," caretaker manager Andy Thorn told the
Coventry Telegraph.
"I know Gary is happy with the results of the scan, which showed it is not that bad, and he was certainly smiling at the game on Saturday.
"Ligaments are a tricky one and sometimes a break is easier to come back from but we will look after him and play it day by day.
"Gary is experienced enough to know his own body and he'll be ready to play when he says and it wouldn't surprise me if he came to me and said he was ready before the season is out."
