Aron Gunnarsson has revealed a chat with manager Malky Mackay made the decision to join Cardiff easy.

Mackay the key for Gunnarsson

New Cardiff City defender Aron Gunnarsson has revealed it was the influence of manager Malky Mackay that made the decision to move to the Bluebirds easy. The Iceland international signed a three-year deal at the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday after leaving fellow Championship side Coventry at the end of last season. A number of clubs were linked with a move for the 22-year-old, but Gunnarsson revealed he chose Cardiff after speaking to manager Mackay, who replaced Dave Jones as Bluebirds boss last month. "I've been on holiday a bit longer than most because I've been away on international duty earlier in the summer," the defender told Cardiff's official website. "But as soon as I got back I travelled down to Cardiff, had my medical and put pen to paper. "I'd spoken to the gaffer a few times and he seemed really keen to make me a Cardiff City player. "He told me where he saw me fitting into the team and what he thought I could offer so that made my decision a lot easier."
