Birmingham City defender Steven Caldwell is delighted with his side's good run of results but warns against getting complacent.
The Blues defeated Leeds United 1-0 at home on Wednesday to rise to eighth in the Championship table on 20 points from 11 matches, just four behind West Ham United, who occupy the second and final automatic promotion spot.
Chris Hughton's side, who are also involved in the Europa League this season, have two games in hand and have won their last six matches in all competitions.
Caldwell is overjoyed with Birmingham's good form in the early stages of the 2011/12 campaign but maintains that they need to carry on working hard to achieve their objectives.
"We're on a little bit of a roll," said the 31-year-old on the club's
official website. "We've got four league wins in a row and a couple of Europa League ones to boot.
"We're getting things going but we're keeping our feet firmly on the ground and we're not getting carried away.
"We're working extremely hard to win these football matches and we're going to have to do that to achieve success."
Busy schedule
Caldwell continued: "The Championship is extremely difficult and relentless but I think once you get on a good run it's a great league and things just keep rolling along.
"But the same goes when you're on a bad run, so we're just trying to make sure that we work hard and we keep focused on what we're trying to achieve and hopefully stay on this run until the end of the season if possible, but as long as we can.
"This year it's the best I've ever known it and there are some top players and top teams.
"Unfortunately, I think there are just maybe a bit too many games and it takes a bit out of the legs and it causes the quality of the matches to drop.
"It's not so much to do with the quality of the players playing in it, it's that everybody is so tired."
